Aftermovie: CAN REON Festival 2026
Updated: 12 hours ago
On 27 June 2026, we celebrated the fourth edition of the CAN REON Festival at our vineyard estate in Tiana, just outside Barcelona.
When we started the festival, the idea was simple: to create a place where music, art, nature and people could come together in unexpected ways. Not a conventional music festival, but an experience that encourages visitors to explore, discover and be surprised.
This year, the programme brought together artists from different disciplines and backgrounds. Portuguese fado singer Lina performed alongside pianist Marco Mezquida, while Ana Lua Caiano combined traditional Portuguese folk music with contemporary electronics. Matthew Herbert and Momoko Gill presented their album Clay, and C.O.U. took us into a world of psychedelic sounds, dub, jazz and experimentation.
Throughout the estate, visitors encountered installations and performances that challenged the boundaries between art and everyday life. Charles Auguste and Matt McCreary explored the architecture of movement through parkour. Artists and engineers Jon Ross and Andy Kidd gave plants a musical voice, translating their electrical activity into sounds played by instruments.
Visual art was equally present. Works by Eiji Watanabe, Melanie Bonajo, Persijn Broersen and Margit Lukács, and Juul Kraijer invited visitors to reconsider our relationship with nature, imagination and the world around us.
What interests me most is what happens when these different worlds meet. When an experimental musician shares a programme with a visual artist, when a plant becomes a performer, or when a familiar landscape suddenly offers a different perspective.
CAN REON is an old wine estate that we have gradually brought back to life, including its vineyards. The landscape is not simply a backdrop to the festival. It is part of the experience. Visitors move between performances, installations and the surrounding nature, with opportunities to taste wines produced on the estate.
Four editions in, the festival continues to evolve. What remains constant is our belief that art and music are most interesting when they open up new ways of seeing and listening.
Come for the music, stay for the unexpected.
